Stolen Pity is a soul on it’s own… The blankets have been pulled away and you’re forced to stare into the darkness afraid of what lurks amongst the shadows with its horrid designs for you. Throughout life we’re looking for support from one another, we start teams, bands, have children, marry, we work amongst other people, we have to be with other people… But the reality is you’ll have to face your mortality alone. You’ll pray, you’ll beg, you’ll try to buy your way out of it, but you will not be able to escape the inevitable. You’re going to hope that when you open your eyes and look up that a beautiful face will stare back and comfort you… but you won’t know until that moment. I vision a boat at sea with no way to steer, no power to sail forward and all you have is the appetite of the massive water throwing you side to side. The darkness engulfs you and without the clouds you’ll have a billion eyes staring back at you from under the water…. but inevitably you’ll be alone and soon you’ll be the food for another and there is nothing you’ll be able to do about it. By the time you pick up the phone to call back to ask forgiveness it will be too late… by the time you scream for your mother, it will be too late. Once you recognize your mortality, it’s already too late.
lyrics
I bring the thunder, I creak across the sky
Strikes the fear in your children, they pull the covers over their eyes
On top of a wooden ship, no sails to carry me home
The deep dark vast of the ocean, with its eyes that eat us alone
I don’t need your pity, I don’t need a home or space
We’ve all got our islands, and we can’t look to heavens face
On this island, I see the shadowed face
She looks like heaven, looks like a deep lone space
I know we want to live, I know the time will come
When we are asleep at night and we pick up that telephone
I don’t need your pity, I don’t need a home or space
We’ve all got our islands, and we can’t look to heavens face
No we can’t look to heavens face
On our islands, we seek the shadowed face
We look for heaven, and long for a smiling face
I want you to see, go ahead and draw that line
I want you to be, the darkness come alive
We’ve all got our islands here, lost in our baby’s fears
Go ahead and speak the words, cause we’ve coming over in the mourn
I don’t need your pity, I don’t need a home or space
We’ve all got our islands, and we can’t look to heavens face

Hailing from the South Puget Sound in Washington… we make our bead and bread and come together regularly to ritualistically beat the hell out of our batter. It’s a goblet full of heavy we offer. ...more
